Week Three/ Challenge

At this point of the Walking Challenge, Fairview Beach is further away than I had planned. But I am committed this week to reaching the beach. (mantra!)

It's hard racking up the mileage while enjoying the jacuzzi, pool and sauna at the Massanutten Resort. (Thank you Phil and Lorna!)

I did get in walking time while visiting with the locals. (bambi!)

Between ski lifts and scrambling the uplifted rock slabs along the crest line, views atop Massanutten Mt. are breathtaking.

Week 2/Pearl's virtual walk

This is mid-point on our walking challenge and our team is committed!

To make it interesting I'm doing a "virtual walk" to Fairview Beach, VA...77 miles away.
It's said that a journey begins with a single step....and I did walk out of my driveway! This fall foliage is fantastic walking weather and I've driven up to Skyline Drive to walk Big Meadow.

On the treadmill I've passed Quinque, Ruckersville, and Barboursville; said a virtual "Hi!" to friends in Orange and am now approaching Wilderness, Va.

While on the treadmill I visualize Fairview Beach which is located on the Potomac River.
I've never been there and my reward at the end of the walking challenge is to actually drive there! I look forward to really walking on the beach, discover the natural areas and enjoy a seafood dinner.

Week 1

I am the captain of our team, I was appointed one day while I was out sick and probably because I am the newest hire but that's fine I will do a stellar job as captian.
Well we just finished our first week of walking.  I decided to take pictures of the awesome scenery I encounter that is ever changing.  It will look one way when I start my walk (which is usually 30 to 45 minutes long as that is all the time I can squeeze in if I am lucky) and will have changed by the time I finish. I took 47,774 steps in the last 7 days, over 20 miles.  I hope to post my pics tomorrow, so tune in for that.  Amy
